Dorset Bach Cantata Club: www.dorsetbach.org.uk Would you enjoy a weekend singing the music of J S Bach and friends?
Yes? Then join us for a celebratory weekend at our next Study Weekend on Saturday 16 | Sunday 17 October 2021.
The Dorset Bach Cantata Club meets for three weekends each year at Sturminster Newton High School, Bath Road, Sturminster Newton DT10 1DT. The Club provides a unique opportunity for amateur choral singers to study, rehearse and perform these inspiring, deeply spiritual, joyous works. There is no audition.
Festivals and concerts
THE CHAGFORD FILM FESTIVAL: https://chagfilm.org/the-festival/programme/ Just a reminder that our first event is this Saturday! We are very fortunate to have Beth Gibbons of Portishead joining us for this very special screening of a performance of Gorecki's 3rd Symphony 'Symphony of Sorrowful Songs'. Performed by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Krzystof Penderecki.
What makes this performance so unique is that it features Beth Gibbons from Portishead in the role normally performed by a soprano.
“Where previous versions have been eerily transcendent, Gibbons' quiet, demotic vulnerability makes this both more harrowing and emotionally engaging.” (The Guardian)
Each year the Two Moors Festival welcomes over 7,000 people to performances and events throughout the South West, and regular BBC Radio 3 broadcasts have brought the Festival to a national audience.
"like going to the Wigmore Hall, With better views. And cows."
