Howard Ionascu
Professional conductor Howard Ionascu has been Director of Music of Exeter Philharmonic
Choir since 2017, leading acclaimed performances of major choral works with distinguished
orchestras, ensembles and soloists. A specialist in choral music, he is also Music Director
and Conductor of Twickenham Choral and The Laudate Choir. Last season included invitations
to direct concerts for The Hanover Band and Chorus and the English Music Festival.
After studying music at the University of Manchester and singing professionally with Wells
Cathedral Choir, Howard founded The Laudate Choir in London in 1997. Alongside his conducting
career, he has held senior music positions at some of the UK's leading educational institutions,
including Winchester College, The King's School, Canterbury, and the Junior Royal Academy of Music.
